Has anyone heard both McCain and Obama talking about what to do with our health care system? Surely, you heard. But, have you got any answers or solutions to the health care crisis we are facing? None or little, I suppose. Do not believe either plan will save you, despite they have repeated in their speeches 1000 times. Trust me, no matter who would become the president, you would see none or little change with your health care plan or how much you pay or anything! People are despaired to seek an answer or solution to the ever rising health care cost, and thought either Obama or McCain would provide, which is true only in your dreams unfortunately, and voting for so called 'change' is just another wasted effort.
Then, what we should do about it? Here is my solution to it: a 2 tier system, i.e. the nation basic universal care system plus private insurance for supplementary medical services or anything which is not covered by the basic universal care.
Basic Universal Care System
Yes, it is "universal", which means it covers anyone who is a citizen, but it is also "basic", which means the coverage is limited to basic medical care, such as limited number of hospital or doctor visits, physical checkouts, and limited medical expense per year. It is like Social Security system, which enable government withdraw a small percentage (say 2%) from each paycheck as the premium. For low income or no income people, government provide basic care for free. However, such a basic care is not like the one that is provided by employers, because of the limitation of the services covered. But for many people who cannot afford any medical insurance or any medical care, even such a basic health care would be good enough. It is also essential that such an universal health care is basic and limited, so that government could provide it to everyone without going broke or piling up huge national debts.
Supplementary Private Insurance
Such insurance is pretty much like the insurance that employers provide, but with 2 differences. First, it wouldn't cover everything already covered by the universal health care system, but covers only anything beyond it. Such insurance is fair to everyone, because if you want more services, you pay more; if you don't need anything beyond the universal care, then you play none. Secondly, it must be portabe, which means that when you changes job, the insurance goes with you to your next job if you choose to keep it. I strongly believe that medical and dental insurance should be like auto insurance, independent from employment.
This is a solution no presidential candidates talking about. Obama and McCain are big corporate politicians, who are closely tied with big corporations, big campaign donors and big business backups. So, don't expect either one does anything for your health care security. If you really want to do something about our health care system, then promote my ideas here to anyone and everyone.
